Meal at King’s Garden

We held our latest fundraiser at the Kings Garden Restaurant on Friday 4th March.  The food and atmosphere was lovely thanks to Salih and his staff and everyone enjoyed the night.  We had a fun quiz with general and music themes which was written so we could all carry on chatting and dare I say in some cases ‘bending the rules’ in a light hearted manner.  We also had to guess an object, which defeated everyone – who would have thought you needed to, or even could make boiled eggs square to go into a pork pie!?  Gilly Frearson did us all proud with a wonderful raffle and overall just under 500tl was raised for FIG. So a big thank you to all who came along, that was a fantastic amount considering we had to keep the ticket sales down to 40 to ensure there was enough space for us all to be comfortably seated and still move around.

 

 

 

Bangers n’ Mash evening at the Address Restaurant

On Thursday 2nd December, instead of the usual Fish and Chips we had that good old British favourite, Bangers n’ Mash with Onion gravy.  Over 60 people enjoyed the meal at the Adres restaurant, which until recently was known as The Tadım.  The new management have refurbished the premises to a high standard and the tables were beautifully laid in red and white.

We met between 6.30 and 7pm – all anticipating a good meal, and we were not disappointed.  The sausages, freshly made by Şarkir Aydemir from Kargı, were delicious, the onion gravy was made to perfection by Jill Erdoğan and Bob Frearson; the restaurant kitchen provided a most acceptable mash and the waiters gave excellent service.  Desserts of Bakewell tarts, French Apple tarts and Fresh fruit salad were made and donated by Pat Goldsmith, Jill Patience, Bob Frearson, Kathy Connor, Jill Erdoğan and Wendy Coombs.

Grace Carter devised a short fun quiz and Colin Wordley the music quiz and as always, there was a marvellous raffle, arranged by Gilly Frearson in her usual inimitable style. The entertainment was provided by Chris Johnstone and one of the waiters and it was really nice to see Caroline, Roy and Pat being waited on for a change.

Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely and the grand total of 580tl was raised for FIG funds.
