AFC have both provided us with paper and pencils for schools and have helped with the transportation of donated goods from Izmir to Fethiye and are now providing storage boxes for our shop stock.
METE INSURANCE Do consider a quote from Mete Insurance as FIG will be given a donation from any business, where the customer mentions our name. Mete does have satisfied English customers with whom he can arrange contact if desired.
TUI FIG was also very fortunate to first receive sponsorship from TUI in 2009 and gives huge thanks to Vicky Erdoğan (who was local manager at the time) and all the Thomson & First Choice reps who worked so hard together and raised money for FIG. They staged two events, one a sponsored walk from Hisarönü to Kaya, when they collected over 100 bags of rubbish from the roadside and the second being a grand night of entertainment held courtesy of the staff and entertainers of Talk of The Town, in Hisarönü both events being generously supported by their customers. In 2010 TUI arranged two Beach Barbecue events as fund raisers for our charity and managed to top the previous years efforts. Our contact with TUI last year and this is Sue Bullifent and we are looking forward to further support this year.
We have also been generously supported by the likes of Tom & Sandra Connor who gave a wonderful selection of classic English reading books, for us to pass on to suitable schools. They did this in memory of a former colleague, Tom being a retired head teacher from Glasgow. We also have some very generous supporters who go to a great deal of trouble, on their holiday, to bring pens, pencils and notebooks from England for us to take to the schools. Not to mention the great team of ladies who knit and provide the tops we pass on to the children who attend the more remote village schools high in the mountains. See the pictures of a selection of jumpers and a group of children wearing them! It is great that the generosity of our knitters enables us to give all the children in a school a top, so none are singled out as being especially needy, but no doubt most of them really do need this extra warmth during the winter.
