Thanks for the interest already shown, but please keep volunteering to knit pullovers or jumpers for the mountain village children ages 7 -10 years.  Patterns are available from Grace on Wednesdays & Fridays.  We are already collecting for next winter!

Round Neck Pullover

In 4 sizes

 

Measurements

To fit 56 (61 66 71)cms.       22 (24,26,28)ins. Chest

All round at underarms 61 (64 71 75) cms.

Length from shoulders 37 (40 43 46)cms.

Materials

150 grms double knitting wool for 1^st & 2^nd sizes

250 grms for 3^rd & 4^th sizes

Tension 22 sts & 28 rows  = 10cms.

Pair of size 3 ¼  &  4mm needles

Front

Using 3 ¼ mm needles

Cast on 67 (71 77 83) stitches

1st row            p1*p1 k1 repeat from* to end

2^nd row             p1 k1 to end

Repeat these 2 rows 6 more times

Change to 4mm needles begin with K row

Work in stocking stitch for 70 rows

Shape armholes

Cast off 4sts at start of next 2 rows. Decrease 1 st at each end of next 7 rows             45 (49 55 61)stitches

Continue without further shaping until 94 (96 98 100) rows completed. ***

Shape neck

Next row          knit 17 (19 21 23) turn, leaving remaining sts on spare needle.  Continue on first set of sts for left front.

Next row         purl 2 tog tbl purl to end, decrease one st at neck edge on next 3 rows, then on every alternate row until 11 (11 13 15)sts remain.

Continue without further shaping until armholes measure 15 (16 17 18)cm ending at armhole edge.

 

Shape shoulders

Cast off 4 (4 4 5) st at start of next row and following alternate row; 3 (3 5 5)sts; work 1 row and cast off.

With right side facing return to sts on spare needle slip first 11 (11 13 15)sts on to holder, rejoin yarn and knit to the end.

Next row purl to last 2 stitches P2 tog; complete to match first side.

 

Back

Work as front to ***

Continue without further shaping until work matches front to shoulders ending after a purl row.

 

Shape shoulders

Cast off 4 sts at start of next 4 rows; then 3 (3 5 5)st at start of next 2 rows  23 (27 29 31)sts 

Leave sts on a holder

 

Neckband

Join left shoulder seam.  With right side of the work facing using 3 ¼ mm needles pick up and knit 23 (27 29 31)sts from back neck working 2 tog in the centre, pick and knit 18 sts down left neck, knit 11 (11 13 15) sts from holder then pick up and knit 18 sts from right neck, 69 (73 77 81)sts Beginning with 2^nd row work 8 rows in rib, cast off loosely.

 

Armbands

Join right shoulder seam and neckbands

With right side facing, using 3 ¼ mm needles pick up and knit 79 (83 87 89)sts round each armhole, work as for neckband.

Join up side seams to finish.
